In June, 2006, Ron Lauder paid $135 Million dollars for the Klimt painting of Adele Bloch-Bauer. Today, the painting hangs in Lauder's Neue Galerie in New York City. The Neue Galerie is a museum of early twentieth-century German and Austrian art. Five of Klimt's paintings (taken illegally by the Nazis) were restored back to their original owner, Maria Altmann, who eventually sold the paintings to Mr. Lauder.
Join us as Professor Robertson shares the background and biography of the Austrian Painter, Gustav Klimt. All are welcome to attend. The lecture is open to the public.
