Swing by the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts between 8:00 AM and 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 4, 2020 for Smithsonian Museum Day. As a Smithsonian Affiliate, the Heard-Craig Art Museum will be holding a gallery show entitled, "Earth's Art - The Brilliance of Geodes".
The word "Geodes" is derived from a greek word meaning "earth like". Geodes are round, hollow voids in rocks filled with crystals and other minerals. According to Americangeode.com, "every geode is a mystery until it's cracked....and then it is a wonder".
Come by to see young artists and their interpretation of the beauty of geodes during Smithsonian Museum Day at the Heard-Craig. Open Saturday, April 4, 2020 from 8:00 - 12:00 Noon. And while you're here, have fun with the new toy in town, McKinney's New ART O MAT! Dispensing original Earth Art since 1997:)
